View of the front of the house in MaidencombeBay Balustrades, specialists in stainless steel and glass balustrades, was employed to construct the balustrade for a balcony and staircase for a new-build house in the grounds of an Edwardian Mansion in Maidencombe, Devon.

Standard fittings were not suitable for the construction of the balustrade, which was designed to maximise the views over the gardens and towards Dartmoor. Bay Balustrades had to use its skills in engineering to fabricate the joints. Tig welding was used to ensure that, once polished, the joints are invisible. House Builder, Colin Chase is pleased with the results, “The quality of the balcony’s finish shows considerable thoughtfulness and it is a good example of close attention to detail.”

The company also installed a four-flight internal staircase. This was fabricated from stainless steel balusters inset with glass and an oak handrail, giving it a very modern look. With these materials, Bay Balustrades had to work closely with the carpenter to ensure a perfect fit. Colin explains, " The work was challenging as it required bespoke fabrication of the steel & glass and the introduction of oak handrails. Throughout the job Keith maintained a very positive, can do attitude and created an excellent product. Keith totally absorbed himself in the project, committing himself to producing a first class finish. I would have no hesitation in recommending Bay Balustrades, they did a fantastic job for me at a very good price."
